Briards de la Maison du Garde-Barrière
As a Chinese saying goes:
One only has to sit long enough on the shore and sometime
the enemy swims along with the back above.
And we say: the same way it will be!

On our own behalf:

Virus mails and Spam from caipirinhas.eu or one of our other domains?
We expressly point to the fact that these mails didn't/don't come from our domains even having the sender's address, and we dissociate ourselves from their content. We, too, smart from the mass of mails which mainly have their origin in Swiss and German connections.

December 31, 2005:

Shortly before the change of year there was another disaster:
On 12/28 Voodoo should have gone for one day to his breeders. We had mighty winter weather - here and also in Slovakia. I took half day off from the office to have time enough to get safely to Slovakia with my Dad and little Voodoo, best equipped (snow chains, sand for grit, spade, ....). Everything went fine and we arrived healthy and sound at Voodoo's breeder and her family. On the next day Voodoo should have been picked up again.

On the way home it happened: We were nearly at home, I had been driven according to the weather and roads very leisurely. In front of a long curve at the end of a village a van came towards and I saw that the driver and the front-seat passenger were chatting (nuns). It seemed to me human that this car would not drive correctly into the curve or at least too far on the other lane. I braked without any problems and the moment the car stood still there was a crash: the nuns had been driving straight instead of taking the curve. Everything which can be damaged in the front of a car is damaged. Thank goodness there were witnesses who saw that I came to that crash through no fault of myself.

Because of the holidays there is vacation time everywhere and therefore there are problems with the inspection of the car by the insurance company and for repairing the car. Only on Jan. 9, 2006, the car will be inspected in the garage, until then the car is not allowed to be moved and we have to do all the necessary things by foot or by train.

In the evening of 12/29 I had intended to picked up Voodoo again, but that did not work because the train connections to Bratislava end in a way that there was no chance to get back home again. Therefore, we decided to get the tin boy back home on 12/30 in the afternoon.

Rude awakening in the morning both, in Slovakia and here at home: violent squall and snow. In the radio they said that it was not even possible to keep the main streets clean because of all the snowdrift, which was why some borders and lots of side streets were closed, which was why partly train connections were interrupted and on all the branch line nothing at all worked. For Voodoo's breeders it was impossible to get him to the central train station of Bratislava, for myself it was uncertain if the train to Bratislava would drive. There were lots of phone calles to and fro if the situation had changed, but no such luck. So it was faced up to get Voodoo back on 12/31 and he had to stay with his breeders for another night. Not that I don't know that the boy is in good hands and feels good there, but I did not know whether I was coming or going because I missed the little boy very much.

On 12/31 the weather showed understanding for us and the situation on the roads and with the train connections turned to be better. Now Voodoo's breeders could bring him to the central station in Bratislava early in the afternoon and hand him over to me. Wow, what a thrill! Finally we managed to be together again at the end of this year.

Thank you very much to Jana and Iveta for all their effort to get Voodoo back home again and to Iveta that he got everything he needed while he was with her and her family for an unexpected longer time. She even sewed two cool house suits for him while he had been there .....

Have fingers crossed that our car is soon repaired and that there will be no problems with the opposing insurance company, as this would be the very last thing we needed after this year with many strokes of fate and lots of turbulences.

A good New Year with lots of luck, success and mainly healthiness is what we all wish - and without seeming to be egoistic: these wishes mainly apply for ourselves and our families (two and four legged). The past two bad years shall finally be a thing of the past and it shall go steeply uphill for all of us here!

December 24, 2005:

They are five years of age today, the last children of Yazoo:

The warmest Happy Birthday to Ferre (Ferre Fuego Noir) in Austria, to Fendi (Flic Fendi Noir) in Austria, to Miro (Figaro Miro Noir) in Germany, to Falco (Fetiche Falco Nero) in Italy, to Fleury (Fleury d'Aude Noire) in Germany, to Ferri (Foudre Ferrari Noir) in Switzerland, to Saskia (Femme Fatale Grise) in Austria and to Frizzy (Frizzante Furioso Gris) here in the house.

I wish you many more uncountable healthy years in your families. I knot that you all will be spoilt very much today. All the very best!

December 20, 2005:

Three years with nearly no luck and uncountable "crashes", but this year was the worst:
Samson's unexpected death in March ... Zabou empty after the (lifelong) contamination with bacteria by the stud at her first mating ... Yazoo's death, not to cope with, four months ago ... Oh-Lala with a miscarriage and therewith no Yazoo grandchild in this house ... - just to name the most serious things ...

In the "endearing" Briard scene there are people (always the same ones: the eternal fakes, the ones who cannot stand the truth) who after all the above mentioned incidents say "She will give it cheaper" ... What more ??? What shall one think about such "human"?

So should there be any reason in this house to celebrate the festivities of the upcoming holidays? NO! There will only be thoughts of all the beloved, who have all gone much too early over the Rainbow Bridge, and for each of them candles will be burning tilll the end of the "holidays".

Still the best season greetings to all those who want, who can and who do celebrate. Here are some season greetings of our Voodoo:

Gizmo & Voodoo

Happy Birthday, dear little "bedbug". You are gorgeous, you are an indescribable enrichment of this house. I wish you incredibly many more healthy years here in the great hairy family.

October 20, 2005:

Today Arwa B., the charming daughter of Rec. Ch. Sándor von Antizberg and Arwa Zevar, would celebrate her 13th birthday. She has also gone too early over the Rainbow Bridge.

A candle, which will burn all day long, is a symbol that Arwa is thought of, that deep in my heart she has her neverending place and that also she was one of my great companions who will never be forgotten.

October 5, 2005:

The ultrasounds nearly five weeks after the mating was already negative, today we have been for an x-ray: Unfortunately there will be no puppies out of the breeding Talis and Zabou. The antibiotics against the infection, which Zabou got from the stud at her last (and even very first) breeding, was not enough till the mating day. What a pity .......... But we are going to have another try next year - again with Talis.

My "special thanks" goes to the stud owner of the first mating with Zabou, namely that she cares so very much about the health of her dogs. With the heavy infection of Mycroplasma bacteria by the stud she has managed that the chances, that Zabou turns pregnant, were more than low. Eventually she has destroyed the breeding career of a beautiful, endearing and very promising brood bitch. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Also a way to put other breeders out of the running ......

The rumour, which already went round only 5 days after the mating, and said that Zabou has infected Talis with Clamydia, can be disclaimed with results, as Pascale was for an examination concerning bacteria and had also done a sperm check with Talis:
Talis ist NOT infertile and he has (OF COURSE) NOT been infected with Clamydia by Zabou!

October 4, 2005:

Batida (Batida de Coco de la Maison du Garde-Barrière) is 8 years of age, today. She was the first black-born grey Briard in the Austrian Briard breeding, and if only for that reason the trip for breeding (3400 km) was worth it, even though the B-litter was only one puppy and born by caecarean.

Batida de Coco

Big congratulation for your birthday, dear Batida! I wish you especially and from the deepness of my heart many more beautiful and healthy years in your family. And the way I know your family, I am sure that you will be spoilt very much today. Have a good time, and you can be sure that in my thoughts I am with you.

October 2, 2005:

In memory of the special hairy family members, who have already left this World, the page "Rainbow Bridge" has been set up. ........

October 1, 2005:

All day long today a candle is burning for Sándor (Rec. Champ. SÁNDOR von Anitzberg) .......... it would be his birthday ..........
